Your cruise, your way
New to cruise or yet to even set foot on board? Wondering what it’s really like and whether it’s for you? We sat down with our Chairman’s and Brand Ambassador, cruise veteran Fernando Barroso de Oliveira, to ask for his tips on how to make a cruise work for every type of traveler.
With Crystal Serenity set to enter drydock this October, guests can expect the addition of a sleek new pool bar, plus upgraded suites and public areas.
Whether it’s a new outfit, a fresh haircut, or an indulgent spa day, everyone deserves an occasional sprucing up – even cruise ships. This October, Crystal Serenity is getting just that, as she enters drydock for a scheduled refurbishment. The three-week project is designed to elevate the guest experience through various updates to key spaces, as well as technical upgrades to optimize performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
One of the most exciting enhancements to come from the drydock will be the addition of an all-new pool bar, located at the heart of the ship’s most vibrant outdoor space on Deck 12. Guests will be able to enjoy seamless service and their favorite refreshments, all without having to leave the Seahorse Pool area.

The Atrium and Crystal Cove, the ship’s central gathering space, will also be transformed. Updates will include a new marble dance floor, a new stage for live entertainment, and a De Castelli mosaic, a nod to the design installed aboard Crystal Symphony during her 2025 drydock.

Furthermore, the drydock will see a complete refit of the Aquamarine Classic Suites’ living areas and bathrooms on Deck 10, as they are outfitted with new furnishings to align with Crystal Serenity’s elegant design. The corridors on Deck 10 will also receive new carpet and wallpaper.
Bernie Leypold, Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations for Crystal, underscores the impact of this drydock on the onboard experience. “Following the successful drydock of Crystal Symphony, our work aboard Crystal Serenity is guided first and foremost by the guest experience,” he says. “These enhancements underscore our commitment to creating meaningful, memorable experiences for our guests at every touchpoint, while ensuring that Crystal Serenity continues to feel as welcoming and enriching as the journeys themselves.”
Crystal Serenity is expected to resume service on November 8, beginning a 15-day Transatlantic voyage from Lisbon to Fort Lauderdale to mark the start of her Caribbean season.
